Building Plan Reviews & Permits

SCO-Fire, with qualified Safety Code Officers, assist contractors and owners from the planning stage through to occupancy of a building.  Review of building plans and site inspections ensures safety and compliance to applicable regulations.

For all new commercial projects, including new buildings and additions, an approved development permit is required before a building permit can be issued. SCO-Fire has experience at the Pre Development (planning) stage to meet with project teams to discuss building code proposals before submission of a development permit. Proactive planning assists our clients and owners having clear direction at the building permit application stage.

Building permits are required for construction projects that include new buildings, additions, renovations, alterations, repairs, relocations, demolitions or a change in the use of an existing building. The building permit process is based on the Safety Codes Act, Permit Regulation and National Building Code – Alberta Edition.
