Building Plan Reviews
SCO-Fire, Fire Safety Codes Officers play a vital role in supporting contractors, developers, and building owners throughout the entire lifecycle of a commercial project—from initial planning through to final occupancy. Our focus is on ensuring fire and life safety compliance with applicable codes and standards.
For all new commercial developments, including new buildings and additions, an approved development permit is required before a building permit can be issued. SCO-Fire is available at the Pre-Development stage to collaborate with project teams, offering expert guidance on fire code requirements and strategies. Early engagement helps clarify expectations and streamline the building permit application process.
Our review process is grounded in the Safety Codes Act and it’s regulations, the National Fire/Building Code – Alberta Editions, with a specific focus on fire department access, fire protection equipment, egress, and occupancy classifications.
Through detailed plan reviews and on-site inspections, SCO-Fire ensures that fire safety measures are properly integrated and maintained, helping to safeguard occupants and property while supporting regulatory compliance.
